Biography

Rob Adams was born and raised on a ranch located south of Albuquerque, New Mexico. He received a business degree from Colorado State University in 1972 and has successfully owned and operated six different businesses during his working career. He moved to Scottsdale Arizona in 1983 to become general manager of his family’s business, Adams Arabians. Rob and his wife, Christine moved to the Verde Valley in 1994.

      Over the past fifteen years he has served as director or officer on numerous boards and elected positions on local, regional and state levels. Presently, he serves on 17 different boards, commissions and committees including the Arizona Town Hall, the Arizona League of Cities and Towns, the Northern Arizona Council of Governments, the Yavapai County Intergovernmental group and the Northern Arizona Mayors Association. In 2002 he was honored as the Yavapai County Philanthropist of the Year. Rob and his wife presently own Prasad Investments, a real estate investment company.

     Rob was appointed to the Sedona City Council in February 2006 and was elected Mayor in June of 2008. His mission statement as Mayor is “I will lead a collaborative effort in our community to make Sedona a model city of economic and environmental sustainability.”  He believes that government should be “by the people and for the people,” and encourages the citizens of Sedona to participate in the decision making process.

     Adams advocates the development of educational, medical, and other “clean” industry in Sedona, as well as a performing arts facility and conference center. He is also a proponent of green building, solar energy development, alternative transit and water conservation. He believes that good stewardship will sustain our economy and environmentalists and businesses must work together to ensure the future of Sedona as a “model city that encourages sustainable living in harmony with its environment.”
